Can you put a 40 Series Torque Converter on a Predator 212?
No you cannot put a 40 series Torque Converter on a Predator 212 without making some modifications. Because the Predator 212 comes with a 3/4″ shaft whereas the drive clutch of the 40 series Torque Converter comes with bore size 7/8″ and 1″.
However, you can make some modifications to the shaft of the engine to fit in a 40 series Torque Converter. You can put a 3/4-1″ Shaft Adapter on the engine to technically convert the engine from a 3/4″ to 1″ shaft and use a 1″ bore sized 40 series Torque converter.
If you haven’t yet bought a Torque Converter yet, buy a 30 series torque converter. They fit perfectly on a Predator 212.
Modified Predator 212
If you’ve modified your Predator 212 and are now worried that a 30 series cannot handle your engine, that is a completely understandable concern. Since the 30 series Torque Converter is rated for engines up to 8hp.
However, adding a 40 series isn’t the best solution, but a 30 series Torque converter will limit your top speed. So what is the solution?
For modified engines, you should either get a 30 series Juggernaut Torque Converters, or even better replace the original bronze spacer bushing with thicker steel spacers on a normal 30 series, this will remove the limit set by the 30 series torque converter.
I’d been looking for this all over. If you can connect this in name to the high-performance Tilliston 212 engines, that would be fantastic. Thanks!
